Singer wasnt confident about her writing skills
Sunday, 26 April 2009
Lily Allen lost confidence in herself because of the way she was initially portrayed in the tabloids.
The singer struggled to deal with the criticism following the release of her debut album Alright, Still in 2006.
‘I took a bit of a beating from the press first time around,’ says Lily. ‘I became more famous for being a train wreck than a singer.
‘So I didn’t think I was capable of writing songs and making music.’
But Lily, 23, reckons she understands the way the press works.
‘Young women are represented in a way that isn’t true,” she explained on US programme Late Show With David Letterman.
‘If a girl is seen having a drink she’s a drunk. If that happens with a guy it’s not portrayed the same way.’

at least the quote is right. It wasn't on David Letterman, it was on THE VIEW.
She didn't think she was capable!! C"MON most people would have been drinking a lot more than Lily Allen did, who spent more time being sober, than the papers gave her credit for. No, you wanna go nuts, loose your confidence? You go out and shave your head, and become 2 or 3 different people, because you crave attention, not have it forced on you by proxy. Lily Allen!! she's has more guts than a lot of people think she does.
