Reality TV star's 'father' passes away after cancer battle

The man thought to be Kerry Katona's long-lost dad has died of throat cancer.

The reality TV star is thought to have traced Ron Armstrong, 62, using a private detective and apparently planned to get in touch.

‘She is very shocked and raw over the news,' says a close pal. 'She longed to have a father figure in her life.'

Ron's kids Lynsey, 34, Wayne, 40, Jason, 39, Ian, 27, and Paul, 25, say they'd accept Kerry, 28, into the fold if it's proved she's their relation.

'If she is our sister then she is our sister - and she will be welcome here into the family if it is true she is dad's daughter,’ Lynsey tells the News Of The World.

'My dad is not here to confirm it for us and we will obviously - like any family would do in our situation - be asking for a DNA test.’

A rep for Kerry declined to comment.
