Connie Fisher has been told she must undergo immediate surgery on her vocal cords.

The How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? winner has been diagnosed with congenital fusion anomalies.

Connie, 25, has had the condition, which leaves part of the mouth joined together, since birth.

She has cancelled her upcoming tour as she prepares to return to the States within the next few days for the operation.

‘The doctor says it is not uncommon, but he has never encountered it in a singer before,’ her rep tells the Daily Mail.

‘How Connie ended up having a singing career has been nothing short of a miracle.

'She is very disappointed and upset that she will not be able to do the tour.'

Connie will be unable to speak for several weeks after the op.
