Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen’s wife has lost five stone in as many months.

Jackie, 44, has been following the LighterLife food plan, which involves her only having 500 calories a day.

As part of the regime, meals are replaced by milkshakes and soup and followers must drink up to four litres of water a day.

‘The milkshakes give me all the nutrients and vitamins I need, so I’m probably better nourished now than I have been at any point in my adult life,’ says Jackie, who has now slimmed down from size 18 to 12 .

‘The diet required a huge commitment and you have to get quite obsessional about it or you’d never manage it.

'I did find it difficult not being able to eat what my family was eating and I used to love the smell of hamburgers.’

Laurence, 44, has slimmed down from 11 stone to 16.

‘I’m not Laurence’s dumpy wife any more,’ Jackiey tells the Daily Express. ‘There used to be the odd comment in the papers suggesting that, somehow, I didn’t deserve my husband because I wasn’t thin.

‘I feel losing weight somehow empowered me. I didn’t do it because of pressure from anyone else and I didn’t do it to look better. I did it because of health reasons.’
