Chatshow legend says she wasn't a saint or a martyr

Jade Goody shouldn’t be likened to Princess Diana, according to Michael Parkinson.
The chatshow legend's comments come days after the Big Brother star was laid to rest.
‘Jade Goody has her own place in the history of television and, while it’s significant, it’s nothing to be proud of,’ Michael writes in the Radio Times.
‘Her death is as sad as the death of any young person, but it’s not the passing of a martyr or a saint or, God help us, Princess Di.’
'When we clear the media smoke screen from around her death what we're left with is a woman who came to represent all that's paltry and wretched about Britain today.'
Michael, 74, also claimed the star was 'manipulated and exploited till the day she died'.
Jade’s spokesman Max Clifford is disappointed by Parky’s remarks, saying: ‘I’m very sad and surprised at his comments.’

At long last someone who speaks the truth. I am fed up with being told that I am part of the whole country who is in mourning. Whilst I agree that it is sad, Jade showed her true colours in celebrity big brother and then she married a thug who may well be going back to prison.
WHo does he think he is? Why is he so superior? Let Jade Rest in Peace. Leave her alone. I don't understand people's need to say these things. Wretched Britain is due to years of class oppression ! Tell parky to shut up and mind his own business. He is a very judgemental man I rememeber his interview with Madonna, he suggested she was too old for the business. How old was he ! He is a male chavenist.

I agree whole heatedly with Michael Parkinson, at last someone with common sense has spoken the truth that others dared not say. It is however horrific that any child should lose their Mother at such a young age. What about Jane Tomlinson, hailed as an inspiration for defying terminal cancer to run marathons, cycle across America and raise over a million pounds for cancer charities.
