Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes co-host This Morning
Eamonn Holmes and his long-term partner Ruth Langsford are to tie the knot.

The former GMTV presenter proposed during a romantic break to celebrate her 49th birthday on St Patrick's Day.

'I'm so thrilled,' Ruth says in a statement. 'We've discussed marriage many times but this was an incredibly romantic and heartfelt proposal which I will never forget.

'It came as a complete bolt from the blue and I said yes immediately.

'It was very emotional, we were both in tears. I collected my ring yesterday and I'm just so excited.'

Eamonn and Ruth, both 49, have been together for 12 years. 

The couple, who are parents to seven-year-old son Jack, plan to get married next spring.   

Eamonn also has three teenage children with first wife Gabrielle, who he divorced in 2005.
