Madonna due in Malawi over second adoption

Officials say she wants to take in girl called Mercy James

Madonna's adoption of David Banda was finalised in 2008

Madonna is expected to arrive in Malawi to begin the process of adopting another child from the country.

The singer is due to fly into the airport in the capital Lilongwe today.

And she plans to adopt a girl called Mercy James, according to local officials.

It's thought she'll attend a procedural hearing at the High Court on Monday. 

The child was born to an unmarried 18-year-old who died shortly after the birth.

She is at the same orphanage as David Banda, who was taken in by Madonna when he was 13 months old.

Madonna is already mum to Rocco, 8, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, 40, and Lourdes, 12, with Carlos Leon.

Her spokeswomen, Liz Rosenberg and Barbara Charone, and her lawyer in Malawi, Alan Chinula, have so far made no comment.
