Former model said to have been offered a contract
Friday, 27 March 2009
Melanie Sykes is apparently being lined-up to take over from Fern Britton on This Morning.
The 51-year-old is leaving the ITV show at the end of July.
And it's thought Mel, 38, has now been offered a contract to work alongside Phillip Schofield, 46.
'Fern's replacement is a one-horse race,' a source tells The Sun. 'This Morning is determined to sign Melanie and made a formal approach today.'
Meanwhile, Fern's rep has rubbished reports she's quit as host of the British Soap Awards and that she'll front a new BBC show.
'Neither statement is true,' John Rush tells Now Online.

good luck to fern i would like to see myleene klass replace her as she seems to be very popular and would no doubt stand out in this job.
melanie sykes she is very nice also young but i prefere Christine Bleakley to work with Phillip Schofields.
Fern used to be my no 1 tele celeb, but recently she's lost the plot and seems to let the gorgeous Philip down. Melanie Sykes will make a wonderful replacement, but PLEASE NOT the deadful Ruth Langsford!!!

1 lucky reader will win a DVD player plus a copy of the DVD. 5 runners-up will get a copy of the DVD!
