Cheryl Cole doesn't want to give up on Ashley Cole, but she's had enough of his bad behaviour

Cheryl Cole has privately confessed she’s only giving Ashley Cole one more chance to mend his ways before she’s out.

Although Cheryl, 25, has always dreamt of the kind of lifestyle that Victoria Beckham has, she’s realising that she can’t have it all and the pressure’s getting to her. The Girls Aloud star now faces an incredibly difficult decision: whether to quit her career or her marriage.

‘Cheryl’s her own woman and won’t give in to pressure from anyone, but she’s fed up with Ashley’s antics,’ says a source close to the star.

‘She knows that her status has grown enormously since The X Factor and at times she wonders if Ashley’s worth all this effort. Yet she still talks about him as her “soul mate” and any criticism of him makes her furious, especially as she’s seriously considered quitting it all to raise a family with him.

‘To the horror of her friends, she actually ended up feeling sorry for Ashley after his recent arrest because she thinks his mistakes are the result of him feeling lonely without her'

Her husband’s arrest for being drunk and disorderly at London nightclub The Collection while she was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief infuriated Cheryl. But since then Ashley, 28, has managed to convince her of his side of the story.

‘Once the initial anger passed, she started seeing it from his point of view,’ says our source. ‘Her schedule’s very hectic and she knows it wounds his pride to live in her shadow. She’d love them to be able to spend a cosy Saturday night in together, but all that’s become a distant memory.

'She'll always defend Ashley, saying that he's been supportive of her career, so perhaps she needs to make sacrifices in return. They both know things can't go like this - it's crunch time.'
