Twitter blamed for Jennifer Aniston's split from John Mayer

Singer said to have spent too much time on the site

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer looked loved-up at the Oscars in February

Jennifer Aniston's break up with John Mayer was apparently down to Twitter.

The couple split after the Friends star returned from Europe last month, where she was promoting new movie Marley & Me.

It's thought John wasn't returning her calls while she was away, but was putting regular posts on the social networking site.

'Every few hours, sometimes minutes, he'd update with some stupid line,' a source tells Star magazine.

'And in her mind, she was like "He has time for all this Twittering, but he can't send me a text, an email, make a call?"'

Jen divorced Brad Pitt, 45, in 2005 and started dating John, 31, in April 2008.
