David Letterman marries long-term partner Regina Lasko

US presenter announces happy news on chatshow

David Letterman and Regina Lasko began dating when she worked for him on his show

David Letterman has tied the knot with girlfriend Regina Lasko.

The pair exchanged vows on 19 March in Choteau, Montana.

David, 61, announced the news during the Monday taping of his Late Show programme.

‘On Thursday, at 3pm, March 19, 2009, at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana, I was married to Regina Lasko,’ he told the audience.

‘Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, “Well, things are going pretty good, let's just see what happens in about ten years...”’

‘I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I - honestly, whether this happened or not - I secretly felt that men who were married admired me…like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I'm saying?’

David and Regina, 48, are parents to son Harry, 5.

He was previously married to college sweetheart Michelle Cook for seven years.
