Rapper could face a stint in jail if found guilty

Kanye West had performed at the MTV Video Music Awards just days before his arrest

Kanye West has been charged with vandalism, battery, and grand theft over a reported clash with a photographer last year.

The rapper, 31, was arrested at California’s LAX Airport after he allegedly smashed the flash of a male snapper's camera.

His manager has also been charged, and he faces two counts of vandalism, two counts of battery and two counts of grand theft.

Kanye, 31, who faces two and a half years in jail if convicted, is due in court on 14 April.

He was preparing to fly to Hawaii when the incident happened in September 2008. 

Kanye’s lawyer Blair Berk declined to comment.
