Liam Neeson's wife Natasha Richardson has died following a skiing accident in Canada.
The star, 45, suffered serious head injuries after falling on the beginners' slope at Mont Tremblant resort in Quebec on Monday.
'Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha,' says the actor's publicist.
'They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.'
The star passed away at Lenox Hill Hospital, in New York, after being transferred from Montreal on Tuesday night.
Her death was announced shortly before midnight.
Natasha's family, including mum Vanessa Redgrave and sister Joely, were snapped at the hospital yesterday.
She and Liam, 56, have sons Michael, 13, and Daniel, 12.
