Chris Brown and Rihanna are said to have patched things up

Chris Brown has to stay quiet about the alleged Rihanna assault for legal reasons.

The R’n’B hunk, 19, was arrested shortly before the Grammys in February after reportedly leaving the Umbrella singer, 21, with ‘horrific injuries’.

‘While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time,' says his spokesperson.

'Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so.’

Earlier this week, Chris pulled out of the Kids' Choice Awards. It followed an online petition for his name to be withdrawn.

‘He very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honour they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favourite Male Singer and Favourite Song,’ added the spokesman.

He is due to appear in court on charges of assault and making criminal threats on 6 April.
