Jade Goody's husband asks for sentencing to be delayed
Tuesday, 3 March 2009
Jack Tweed could be sent back to jail after being found guilty of assaulting a taxi driver.
Jade Goody's husband broke down in tears as he received the verdict at Epping Magistrates Court today.
Jack, who denied the charges, was convicted of attacking Stephen Wilkins, 54, in Epping last May.
His lawyer pleaded with the court to suspend sentencing while his wife Jade, 27, battles cancer.
'Miss Goody only has weeks to live,’ the solicitor told the court. ‘I would invite you to defer sentence for six months.'
But Jack, who faces a maximum of six months behind bars, will be sentenced on 26 March.
He was recently released from prison after serving time for attacking a 16-year-old boy with a golf club.
