The father of one of the child stars of Slumdog Millionaire has apologised for slapping him in public.
Mohammed Ismail lashed out at his son Azharuddin, 10, on Friday, just a day after the young actor returned from LA to his home in India.
The 45-year-old is believed to have become enraged when the boy – who plays the young Salim in the Oscar-winning movie – said he was too tired from jet lag to give an interview to a foreign journalist.
‘I was very sorry I did that,’ Mohammed tells The Sun. ‘I was confused and stressed by my son’s homecoming and I did not know myself for a minute, I love my boy and I am very happy to have him home.’
