Star passes away at London clinic

Thursday, 26 February 2009

Wendy Richard has lost her battle with cancer.

The former EastEnder, 65, passed away this morning at London's Harley Street Clinic with husband John Burns by her side.

'She was incredibly brave and retained her sense of humour right to the end,' agent Kevin Francis tells the BBC.

Wendy, who played Pauline Fowler, announced she had terminal cancer in October.

She wed long-term partner John days later.

Wendy had overcome breast cancer twice before.

This is really sad news. Had not heard about Wendy recently, so it came as quite a shock. Hope she did not suffer too much at the end. My thoughts are with her family & those she loved.

It is the fragility of life and its seemingly transitory nature that leaves many difficulty existential questions unanswered. What then is the meaning of life if we are like plants; all green, bloomy and lovely for the better part of it, only to wither and die? Is human existence merely a meaningless illusion? If human life was/is the epitome of nature; why then is it temporary? If there is a creator, then he has a lot to answer for for the toils and suffering of humanity. Rest in peace Wendy, your life was not in vain -you enriched the lives many.. MLUNGISI TSHABANGU, Cape Town, South Africa
