The lovers have stopped flaunting their romance in public to go off and focus on their careers
Sunday, 1 March 2009
Kelly Brook turned up to watch Sadie Frost tread the boards in her new play on 12 February without hot toyboy, rugby player Danny Cipriani in tow.
‘Everyone was thinking they were set to become the new Posh and Becks,’ a source tells Now.
‘When Kelly, 29, first met Danny in September last year they went everywhere together, but now things have changed. They’ve realized that being so public about your love life can have a downside when things go wrong.’
It was recently revealed that Danny’s advisers had warned him not to follow in the footsteps of David Beckham and take a lucrative Brylcreem contract.
They feared his celebrity wasn’t justified by his achievements on the rugby field. That followed the blow of Danny being dropped from the England rugby squad a couple of weeks ago.
Many other players and commentators have mocked Danny for his high-profile romance. He’s been told that he needs to focus on his game because he’s a 21-year-old who still has a lot to prove.
Danny told one reporter: ‘I’ve tried to ignore the criticism. A lot of people make judgments about you, but there are opinions I do care about. They come from people such as Shaun Edwards [head coach at Wasps, his club side] and Martin Johnson [England team manager].’
Our source adds: ‘Kelly’s had her problems, too. She’s trying to bounce back from the humiliation of being dropped from Britain’s Got Talent. She’s also been throwing herself into a fitness regime for her new role as the face and body of a Reebok campaign.
‘It’s a time for Kelly to keep her head down and plan her next career move. It’s part of her job to be famous, but Danny’s a sportsman. They can’t spend every night of the week together. He’s told her he needs a good night’s sleep if he has training the next day and she accepts that.’
