Bosses pay respect to cast members' tragic losses

Bill Roache has starred in Coronation Street for 49 years

The set of Coronation Street will be closed tomorrow – so cast members can attend the funeral of Bill Roache's wife.

Bosses are currently rewriting storylines and scrapping scenes to allow Bill to grieve for Sara Roache, who died at the age of 58, and for Kym Marsh to deal with the sad death of her baby son.

'We have never known anything like this,' a show source tells The Sun. 'Some people say there’s a jinx on the show but we see it as a combination of bad luck and coincidence.

'The priority is to look after the welfare of our cast.'

Kym, 32, who plays Michelle Connor, lost baby Archie last week after giving birth 18 weeks early.

Bill, 76, who is the legendary Ken Barlow in the ITV show, was married to Sara for 29 years before she suddenly died of a suspected heart attack.
