MIA has become a mum for the first time.

The British rapper, real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, gave birth to a baby boy on Wednesday in LA with fiancé Benjamin Bronfman by her side.

‘[He is] healthy, fine, beautiful, and the most amazing thing on this planet,’ she writes on her MySpace blog.

‘Me and baby are putting our tour dates for 2010 together, making mix tapes, and figuring out a way to break out of the hospital!’

MIA, 31, who went into labour just hours after performing at the Grammys on 8 February, has not yet revealed her new son’s name.
