Actress keeps celebrations low-key

Jennifer Aniston looks fabulous at 40

Jennifer Aniston partied over the weekend to celebrate turning 40, but on her actual birthday the actress chose to stay home with a small group of close friends – including boyfriend John Mayer.

On Saturday, Aniston had a festive fete at her Beverly Hill home with pals like Sheryl Crow and Courteney Cox-Arquette. She continued the celebration Sunday by sharing an intimate dinner at Mastro's Steakhouse with Mayer.

Aniston's actual 40th birthday on Wednesday began and ended with low-key celebrations. After Mayer spent the night Tuesday, "they had a small birthday celebration at her house Wednesday morning," says a source.

That evening, a small group of friends celebrated at Aniston's new home. Wally's Wines and Spirits delivered champagne and wine for the small gathering, which include Mayer.
