Coronation Street's Bill Roache in shock over wife's sudden death

Sara Roache appeared in Coronation Street as a judge in Tracy Barlow's murder trial

Coronation Street star Bill Roache is mourning the death of his wife.

Sara Roache, 58, passed away unexpectedly at their Cheshire home on Saturday.

Bill, 76, who plays Ken Barlow in the ITV soap, has been left heartbroken.

'We loved Sara very much and we are all in a state of shock,’ he says. ‘We can't believe she is no longer with us.'

Bill was married to Sara for 31 years and the couple have two grown-up children, Verity and William.

Show bosses have told Bill to take as much time off as he needs.

'William and Sara were a devoted couple,’ a spokesman for the soap tells the Daily Mail.

'And our thoughts are with William and his family at this very sad time.'
