Lindsay Lohan & Sam Ronson together for the cameras?

The pair hit the rocks months ago, but won't go their separate ways

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson became close last year

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson have been struggling to hold their relationship together for months.

Now can exclusively reveal that since their acrimonious visit to the UK in November – when Lindsay, 22, was pictured sobbing in the street at 4am after a row with Sam over her flirting with ex-boyfriend Calum Best – the pair can barely stand being around each other. Some friends think they’re just keeping up appearances.

‘Lindsay and Sam spend more time arguing than they do loving each other,’ says our source.

‘Lindsay’s not handling her problems with Sam well. This, combined with the fact that there are no substantial acting roles coming her way, is proving too much for her.

‘It’s also started to affect Sam. She was hospitalised for exhaustion last month and was ready to call it quits as she felt the relationship wasn’t worth her health.’

Despite her publicist denying that Lindsay and Sam, 31, are at loggerheads and no longer loved up, according to our source the DJ has simply lost patience over the actress’s constant need for reassurance.

‘Sam’s felt like a counsellor, constantly consoling Lindsay over her faltering career and making sure she looks after herself – it’s a full-time job,’ adds the source.

Lindsay recently lamented: ‘I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, but I just don’t get the opportunities that they get. People are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life.’
