Is Mrs Tom Cruise under too much strain?

Katie Holmes, Suri and Tom Cruise are currently enjoying a holiday in Brazil

Katie Holmes is relaxing with husband Tom Cruise in Rio this week – but not before time.

In Berlin recently an exhausted Katie, 30, who appears to have lost quite a bit of weight, sparked fears she was pushing herself too hard.

Despite her gruelling stint on stage in New York for the play All My Sons, she accompanied Tom, 46, on his promotional tour for new movie Valkyrie. Looking tired, drawn and thin, she’d even smeared on extra eyeliner to hide the sunken appearance of her eyes.

‘She looked like a raccoon,’ one fan tells Now.

Katie’s fellow cast members in All My Sons, which ended on 11 January, were concerned because she took on the bulk of the child care duties for daughter Suri, two, while Tom did promotional work.

‘Katie’s a hard worker, but by the end of the run she needed a break,’ says one actor. ‘There were times when she appeared close to tears. She was shattered.’

Instead of taking that vacation right away, Katie's been loyally at Tom’s side. Now at last she is having a little bit of relaxation.
