Macca's new record was influenced by heartache
Wednesday, 28 January 2009
Sir Paul McCartney has hinted that songs on his new album touch upon his divorce battle with Heather Mills.
Electric Arguments, which he recorded as part of duo The Fireman, was made following their split in May 2006.
‘Love and light is mentioned a lot on the album,’ he says. ‘Parts of it are dark and edgy. It could be because I’ve been through a dark place.’
Heather, 41, who has daughter Beatrice, 4, with the former Beatle, received a £24.3million payout as part of her divorce settlement in March 2008.
And Sir Paul, 66, says he's happy he can now put it behind him.
‘Things don’t always work out but I like the idea of being dignified,’ he tells a US radio show. 'I don’t think it helps to mouth off all the time.'
Sir Paul is now dating Nancy Shevell, 49, and insists he's smitten with her.
‘I am a man who needs love,’ he adds. ‘Every man needs love, guys like romance. I do anyway.’
