Sir Paul McCartney paid Heather Mills a £24.3m divorce settlement

Sir Paul McCartney could well be about to pop the question to girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The businesswoman’s divorce from lawyer Bruce Blakeman was finalised on 9 December at the US Supreme Court in New York.

Now Macca is ready to take his relationship with Nancy, 49, to the next level.

‘Paul is a big believer in the institution of marriage, and his friends are in absolutely no doubt he will propose to Nancy in time,’ says a source. ‘Her divorce has been hanging over them – with all the baggage from the past that it represents. So it feels like a great relief to have it all sorted.’

Sir Paul, 66, is believed to have received the blessing of daughter Stella, 37.

‘Getting Stella’s seal of approval was very important for him,’ the source tells the Sunday Mirror. ‘All his children had massive reservations about Heather Mills.

‘But now everything is in place for Paul and Nancy to make their lives together – with the approval of both of their families.’
