As Jade Goody prepares to settle back into life with her jailbird beau Jack Tweed, those closest to her fear that she’s making a dangerous mistake.
Jade, 27, is convinced that 21-year-old Jack – who in September was sentenced to 18 months at Chelmsford Prison after being convicted of attacking a youth with golf club in 2006 – is a changed man.
‘Since Jade was diagnosed, she’s been getting her priorities straight,’ says our source. 'She’s realised that Jack’s really important to her and she wants to live every moment to the full. But just because she's changed, it doesn't mean he has.'
Despite confronting Jack in the past about his alleged cheating with at least 12 other women, the mum of two has said: ‘We’re in love and we keep going back to each other. I met him when he was 18. He’s grown up a lot. He’s my soul mate.’
But our source reveals that a major reason Jade’s so reliant on Jack is her fear of being alone. Although Jeff Brazier, 29 – her ex and the father of her sons Bobby, five, and Freddy, four – lives close by, he has a girlfriend and he and Jade don’t always see eye to eye.
‘Jade and Jeff have rowed a lot,’ says our source. ‘Although he’s tried to be more supportive since she’s been ill, the fact that he lives nearby with his new girlfriend Amy [Purcell, 27, a PA] is tough for her. Jade has her mum Jackiey [Budden, 51], but it’s not like having a partner.’
