Brit Awards snub for Leona Lewis

Singer can only win gong with public vote

Wednesday, 21 January 2009

Leona Lewis has been overshadowed at this year’s Brit Awards.

The X Factor 2006 winner is only up for British Single, which is voted for by the public.

She missed out on British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.

‘It's a complete travesty, Leona has been overlooked in her own country,’ an insider tells the Daily Mirror.

‘She should have been a dead-cert for Best Female. She's had the most amazing year - even the new US President wanted her to perform at his inauguration.’

To make things worse, this year’s X Factor winner Alexandra Burke is also up for British Single for her track Hallelujah.

Duffy
has four nominations - British Album, Female Solo Artist, British Single and British Breakthrough Act.

And Girls Aloud are up for British Group and British Single for The Promise.

The Brits take place on 18 February.

You do know Leona was ineligible for the Breakthrough Award as she was nominated last year? And she was ineligible for the Best Female as she didn't release an album last year?

actually she did release an album last year, she re-released spirit - the deluxe adition, which is the only album re-release to ever get to number 1 again in uk history. then a week later a song on the album - run - got to number one in the singles!??? what is up with the brit award bosses!? dun worry leona! x

That rumor was false, the one where they wanted her to sing at the inauguration-one of the tabloids just made up that rumor actually...apart from that, she's not the first and only deserving artist to get snubbed. Aren't the brits generally a hard audience to please? The oscars and grammys do plenty of snubbing of their own.
