Kate Winslet: Filming sex scenes in front of my husband was weird

But Sam Mendes encouraged actress to go for it

Kate Winslet married Sam Mendes in 2003

Kate Winslet found her recent love scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio a touch awkward – because her husband was behind the camera.

The pair star together in drama Revolutionary Road, directed by Kate's fella Sam Mendes.

‘I thought: “Oh God, is everybody going to be OK with this? Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit weird?”’ she says.

But Leonardo, 34, and Sam, 43, helped Kate relax.

‘Leo was completely fine,’ she tells the Sunday People. ‘Sam was like: “Oh for God’s sake, just get on with it, don’t be so ridiculous.” So we got on with it.

'And because Leo and I have known each other for so long we weren’t fussing or panicking, no insecurity, no fear.’

Kate, 33, and Sam have a 5-year-old son Joe, 5. She also has daughter Mia, 8, with first husband Jim Threapleton.

Revolutionary Road is released on 30 January.
