Alexandra Burke: X Factor win will allow me to help sick mum

Alexandra Burke beat JLS and Eoghan Quigg to be crowned The X Factor winner

Alexandra Burke plans to get her sick mum the best treatment now she’s won The X Factor.

Melissa Bell, 44, is battling a life-threatening kidney disease, which means she has to spend three days a week in a London hospital.

But Alex, 20, is looking into buying her a £20,000 dialysis machine for her home.

‘I’m going to do everything I can to make sure she gets better,’ she tells the Daily Mirror.

‘I won The X Factor for her. I’ll look into what treatment is best, sending her to America or whatever.

‘And I want to buy my mum a new house – a bungalow so that she doesn’t have to walk upstairs.

'We need to take one step at a time but it is my priority.’
