Daily Mirror apologises to the US actor
Thursday, 11 December 2008
Josh Hartnett has accepted £20,000 in libel damages from a tabloid.
The Daily Mirror claimed the actor was caught romping with a mystery woman on CCTV in the public library of the Soho Hotel.
His lawyer Graham Atkins told London's High Court that the paper accepted the allegations were "entirely false".
It has now apologised to Josh for the inaccurate article, which was published on 1 September.
‘The defendant offers its apologies to the claimant for any distress, hurt and embarrassment caused by the article,’ said the Daily Mirror’s lawyer Victoria Jolliffe.
Josh, 30, will donate the money to charity.
