Couple locked in bitter court battle with sports agent
Monday, 8 December 2008
Wayne and Coleen Rooney are being taken to court by one of Britain’s biggest sports agencies Proactive.
The company claims it is owed 2 months’ commission as well as various other bills, such as £19,000 for Manchester United star Wayne's stag weekend in Ibiza.
‘We tried to resolve this and it’s regrettable we had to take this course of action,’ a spokesman for Proactive says.
But Wayne, 23, and Coleen are said to be furious that details of their earnings have been laid bare in documents filed with Leeds Crown Court.
On top of his £90,000-a-week Old Trafford salary, it's revealed that Wayne gets £760,000 every 6 months for image rights, £1 million a year from Nike, £118,689.57 twice a year from EA Games and has made £3.55 million so far from a 12-year, 5-book deal.
Similar details were published about 22-year-old Coleen's earnings.
‘Wayne and Coleen are angry that this has gone to court,’ their spokesman tells the Daily Mirror.
The hearing is scheduled for early next year.
