Radio 1 DJ causes another scandal
Thursday, 4 December 2008
Chris Moyles has caused further controversy for BBC Radio after allegedly suggesting Polish women makes good prostitutes.
The 34-year-old DJ made the remarks on his Radio 1 show last month.
'I've always found prostitutes make very good cleaners and their ironing, brilliant.
‘I find if you’re Polish you’re just very good at ironing... and prostitutes [are] very good also at fixing cars,’ he told listeners.
But the BBC says Chris’ comments have been taken out of context.
‘He was poking fun at ridiculous and unfair stereotypes, and making a nonsense of generalisations based on nationality,’ a spokesman tells the Daily Mail.
‘At no point did he say that Polish people were involved in prostitution – he separately joked that prostitutes were good at fixing cars and ironing.’
The broadcaster has received 95 complaints.
