TV star was devastated after quitting Countdown

Carol Vorderman worked on Countdown for 26 years

Carol Vorderman has revealed that she was so stressed when she left Countdown that her body literally went numb.

The TV star quit the show earlier this year after producers asked her to take a 90% pay cut.

But she was devastated to leave the programme after 26 years.

Then the 47-year-old was rushed to hospital after fearing she'd suffered a stroke.

‘I had gone numb down my right side,’ Carol says.

‘It turned out to be an extreme reaction to stress. The worry had been building up and my body couldn’t take any more.

'It was so scary, I was thinking: “I’m here with the kids, they depend on me.”’

She is currently filming her final scenes for Christmas.
