Singer refuses alcohol on TV chat show

Mariah Carey has played down reports she’s expecting a baby with husband Nick Cannon.

The singer, 38, sparked pregnancy rumours when she appeared on a US chat show and refused a glass of champagne.

‘It's too early for me. I only drink after 3pm!’ she told Ellen DeGeneres.

‘I can't believe you did this to me, Ellen. This is peer pressure.’

But when the host asked her outright if she was expecting, Mariah was coy.

‘I didn't say that. No, no, no. My mother would be at home, like on the computer, like, "What are you talking about?"’ she says.

‘We will let you know when we're going to have a family.’
