Singer opens up about terrifying ordeal in Dubai
Wednesday, 26 November 2008
Lily Allen has revealed that she was searched for drugs on a recent trip to Dubai.
The singer was attending the launch the £1.5 billion Hotel Atlantis on the man-made Palm Jumeirah Island resort.
But on her way through customs, Lily was stopped by security.
‘I was strip-searched, which was so nice as soon as you arrive,’ she says.
‘I knew I didn’t have anything on me, so I wasn’t worried. I wasn’t paranoid, just terrified.
'It was at the airport and took more than an hour. It was really scary as they didn’t tell you what they were doing, they just said: “Take off trousers.”’
Lily, 23, wasn’t the only celeb to endure the ordeal.
Supermodel Agyness Deyn, 25, and partner Albert Hammond Jnr were also given the once-over.
‘Both Albert and I were strip-searched,' she tells the Mail On Sunday. 'It was really traumatic.
'It wasn’t the best experience in the world but it is their culture and you have to respect it.’
