She may have achieved her goal of being thin, but Fern admits she's still not happy

Fern Britton may have shed an incredible 6st, but she’s revealed that her dramatic weight loss hasn’t made her any happier.
The mum of four has plummeted from a size 22 to a slimline size 14 following her gastric band operation – but it’s failed to boost her self-confidence.
In a shock admission, the 51-year-old said last week: ‘Am I happier this size than I was before? No. Am I feeling better about myself? No.’
A smiling Fern looked slimmer than ever recently as she put on a brave face during a signing session for her autobiography at Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex.
But beneath the surface, Fern’s been plagued with anxiety and friends are worried that it could trigger a recurrence of the depression she’s admitted to suffering from in the past.
These fears worsened last Thursday when Fern suddenly announced from Cuba that she won’t return to This Morning until after Christmas.
‘I’ve decided to take three weeks off,’ she said, leaving her bosses fuming.
‘It’s caused a lot of trouble,’ said one insider. ‘It wasn’t pre-planned at all. It was a last minute thing and she’s dropped the show right in it.’
A close friend tells Now: ‘At the moment Fern’s trying her best to be upbeat and positive – she’s very good at putting on a happy face.
'Everyone around her is trying to keep her on an even keel. We’re encouraging her to take as much time off as possible so that she can just relax and take it easy and spend quality time with her family.’

When will people learn that people are not happy because they are thin, they are thin because they are happy. She has had to cut corners to be thin and hasnt faced her demons so whatever is making her unhappy is still there, a tummy tuck doesnt resolve anything.
