Actress wants masterpiece to stay in Britain
Tuesday, 25 November 2008
Kim Cattrall has posed naked in a recreation of a famous painting.
The Sex And The City star stripped off in a bid prevent Titian’s Diana And Actaeon being taken off public display.
The Duke Of Sutherland is selling off the original masterpiece and its sister canvas Diana And Callisto for £100million.
And the National Galleries Of Scotland and the National Gallery in London, where the masterpiece has been on loan for 63 years, have first option on it.
But they are struggling to find the £50million they need to raise by 31 December.
So Kim, 52, joined by burlesque dancers and students, recreated the painting to raise awareness.
‘It would be a tragedy if it were not on public view,’ says Kim.
The photo, which was taken by artist Tom Hunter, will be featured on BBC2's Culture Show tonight.
