Stephen Belafonte: I nearly froze Mel B’s wedding ring in ice

Film producer was planning unique proposal

Mel B was pals with Stephen Belafonte

Stephen Belafonte backed out of proposing to Mel B with a frozen ring.

The film producer, 33, wanted to impress her when he popped the question.

But when he realised the logistical difficulties of pulling it off, Stephen abandoned the idea.

‘I was going to freeze the ring in an ice cube,’ he says.

‘I was going to arrange the meal and then have the ice melting in her glass which would take long enough for me to work out if she was going to say yes.

‘If it didn’t look good, I’d have tried another time.

'Of course, there was a danger the ice would’ve melted when she took a swig of the drink and she choked. That wouldn’t have been good.’

Stephen and Mel, 33, wed in a secret Las Vegas ceremony last year.

They renewed their vows in Egypt this month.
