Academic also says Jordan is destroying herself
Friday, 21 November 2008
Cheryl Cole is not curvy enough to be a feminist icon, according to Germaine Greer.
The academic reckons the 25-year-old singer’s skinny frame doesn’t send out the right message to women.
‘There’s not enough of her – she’s too thin,’ she tells Gordon Ramsay on Cookalong Live. ‘A healthy girl is a fat-bottomed creature.’
Germaine, 69, also slammed Jordan, 30 – real name Katie Price – for her extensive plastic surgery.
‘She is destroying herself and that’s not pretty,’ she says.
Cookalong Live airs on Channel 4 at 9pm tonight.

Cheryl has the perfect face so it don't matter what her body looks like. She's always going to be a pretty girl.
It's nothing to do with hating. Cheryl may be a pretty girl according to current social ideals, but a lot of her beauty has been bought. Try looking at some before and after pics of the girl. She has quite obviously had veneers, rhinoplasty and hair lasered off her forehead. It also looks very likely that she has had a boob job. She's also lost a considerable amount of weight, to the point that her ribcage is visible through her back (X-Factor final anyone?!). She also seems to be a bit of an unlikable girl. Try reading an interview or two. Because of all this, I agree with Germaine Greer. Cheryl is not a feminist icon. I feel sorry for her as I'm sure there is a lot of pressure to look "perfect" when in the public eye, but I'd have more respect for her if she hadn't changed herself like she has done. She was beautiful (aesthetically speaking) before. However, I've never really seen much inner beauty (though I only have interviews to go on). PR is a magical thing.
