Katie Holmes was spotted alone in New York on her wedding anniversary

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were forced to spend their second anniversary apart due to work commitments.

Katie, 29, had to perform in Broadway play All My Sons in New York yesterday while Tom, 46, was in LA.

So the actress flew back to the west coast on Sunday instead, after her matinee performance.

They apparently spent a quiet evening at home before Katie jetted back to the Big Apple.

The couple, who have two-year daughter Suri, tied the knot in Italy in front of family and friends two years ago.

Tom, 46, divorced actress Nicole Kidman in 2001 after 10 years of marriage. They have adopted kids Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13.
