Top Of The Pops could be back on our TV screens next year.
The show, which was cancelled after 42 years, has been the subject of intense lobbying from stars including Lemar and Noel Gallagher.
And now it seems bosses are keen to bring back the much-loved show.
‘It’s a sleeping beauty,’ BBC boss Mark Cooper tells the Sunday Mirror. ‘One day it will come back, in the way that Top Gear and Doctor Who came back.’
Simon Cowell even offered to buy the format from the BBC but was turned down.
‘Digital downloading has reinvigorated the charts,’ says an industry expert. ‘There’s a huge appetite to see acts performing singles.’
Top Of The Pops was cancelled in 2006 after ratings dropped from 15 million to just 1 million.
