The X Factor judge hits out at fellow judge
Monday, 17 November 2008
X Factor judge Louis Walsh has defended his decision to send home Cheryl Cole's act Laura White.
The Girls Aloud star was gutted when the singer, a favourite to win, was given the boot two weeks ago.
And it was Louis who had the casting vote.
‘I did NOT do it to spite Cheryl,’ he says. ‘Cheryl has two girls already through. What did she want? Three girls in the bloody final!
'If Cheryl had her way, she thinks it's going to be handed to her on a plate because it's her first year in X Factor.
'She gets away with murder. But it's the public who control the show.’
Fans were so outraged by Laura’s shock exit that they campaigned to have her reinstated.
But Louis, 56, insists he made the right decision.
‘I thought Cheryl's choice of song for Laura was a disaster,’ he tells the Sunday People.
‘It was Mariah Carey week and she gave Laura the Lionel Richie song Endless Love and put her behind the piano.
'She sounded atrocious, it's as simple as that. My job is to decide on the night.'
Daniel Evans, 38, was the latest contestant to leave the talent show on Saturday night.
