Producers think he's perfect for the role

Russell Brand is in talks to star in a multimillion dollar remake of 1973 movie Jesus Christ Superstar.
The comedian is said to have caught the eye of producers who want him to play the title role.
‘They were instantly taken with Russell - they think he is perfect for it,’ a source reveals.
‘A deal is being thrashed out and filming could start at the beginning of next year.’
Russell, 33, has been in LA following his resignation from BBC Radio 2.
He caused a storm last month when he boasted about having sex with actor Andrew Sachs' granddaughter on his Radio 2 show.
‘The producers are well aware that giving the Jesus role to Russell will provoke a massive reaction but they think that's a good thing,’ the source tells the Sunday People.
‘As far as they are concerned, love him or hate him, Russell will pull in the crowds and make the movie a box office smash.’
He is also tipped to star in Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 alongside Johnny Depp.

THEY COULDN'T HAVE ASKED A WORSE PERSON TO PORTRAY TO PLAY THE ROLE OF SUCH A RELIGOUS FIGURE. WTF WERE THEY THINKING
You'd better behave, Russell!!!!! I would love to see Russell cast as Jesus. Robert Powell was excellent in this role, it's about time we had a remake
As he proved in FSM Russell can sing quite well as long as he's 'acting' when he does it (in real life karaoke parties he's pretty awful). I can easily see him, in character, belting out the JCS songs and doing really well! I hope this works out well for him! He deserves it!
Brilliant!!
Haha! I really hope this is true. Brand is brilliant, I'm not sure he'd suit a musical, but it would still be worth it just to watch middle England vent yet more of their anger.
