Singer says brawl broke out in Australian bar

Stephen Gately came out in 1999 and cavorts with a man in Boyzone's new video

Stephen Gately has revealed that Boyzone got into a scuffle with Rihanna's band at a nightclub recently.

The group – Ronan Keating, 31, Shane Lynch, 32, and Keith Duffy, 34 – were partying in Sydney, Australia, when things heated up.

‘Well, we did get into a fight – certainly more than a difference of opinion,’ says Stephen, 32.

‘We are keeping up that fine image of the Irish and too much booze.'

The boys were out partying with former Westlife star Brian McFadden, who lives in Oz now.

‘It was over a girlfriend of one of Rihanna’s band members,' he tells the Daily Mirror.

'We just wanted to chat and be friendly and this guy tries to rough us up. It was his girl and then all the other guys from the band start getting fresh with us.

'Security came to break it all up. They got a stern talking to.'
