Desperate Housewives actor said to be lucky to be alive

Jesse Metcalfe dated Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle for 18 months

Jesse Metcalfe is recovering in hospital after falling backwards off a balcony.

The Desperate Housewives hunk was at an aftershow party for the World Music Awards in Monaco when he fell 40ft to the ground, leaving him unconscious.

He was rushed to a nearby medical centre where he underwent a full-body X-ray.

Amazingly he didn't break any bones and returned to the UK yesterday to continue treatment here.

'Jesse's lucky to be alive,' a rep for the actor tells Now Online.

'He flew back to London yesterday and had an MRI scan this afternoon. Fingers crossed he'll be given the all-clear.'
