Guy Ritchie's dad: I wasn't upset about Madonna split

John Ritchie says his son is happier now

Guy Ritchie’s dad is relieved his son has broken up with Madonna.

The pair announced their separation last month and John Ritchie, 78, reckons going public has made things easier for the director.

‘He has been in a very good mood,’ he says. ‘I wasn’t upset that they parted. I am very pleased for Guy that it is over.’

John also insists Guy, 40, won’t let Madge move to America permanently with children Rocco, 8, and adopted David Banda, 3.

‘He is such a good, positive father, he won’t let that happen,’ he tells the Daily Express.

Meanwhile, Madonna, 50, who also has daughter Lourdes, 12, from a previous relationship, has been accused of keeping up her New York neighbours with tour rehearsals.

‘She does not stay up till all hours of the night,’ says a spokesman. ‘She needs her rest. She’s a working girl, you know.’
