TV presenter is deeply saddened by Proposition 8

Ellen DeGeneres is distraught that Proposition 8 has prohibited gay marriage.
The chatshow host was thrilled when the California Supreme Court overturned its 8-year ban on same-sex unions earlier this year.
But the State has now amended the legislation, despite opposition from Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
‘This morning, when it was clear that Proposition 8 had passed in California, I can't explain the feeling I had,’ Ellen has said in a statement.
‘I was saddened beyond belief. I believe one day a "ban on gay marriage" will sound totally ridiculous. In the meantime, I will continue to speak out for equality for all of us.’
Ellen, 50, exchanged vows with partner Portia de Rossi, 35, in August.
