The troubled star's convinced her ex will never seek full custody
Thursday, 6 November 2008
Kerry Katona’s told pals that despite her recent troubles, she’s in no danger of losing her 2 daughters to former hubby Brian McFadden.
The 28-year-old believes that, despite speculation that the singer - who now lives in Australia and is engaged to Delta Goodrem - is set to go for full custody of Molly, 7, and Lilly-Sue, 6, following her recent disastrous This Morning interview, she has nothing to worry about.
‘She reckons if he’s that concerned about them, he wouldn’t be living on the other side of the world,’ says a source. And Brian has recently denied that he has any intention of fighting over the girls.
Kerry currently shares custody with her ex, although the children mainly live with her. She also has two children with husband Mark Croft – 21-month-old Heidi and Maxwell, who was born in April.
Since she appeared incoherent and slurring on This Morning two weeks ago, cash-strapped Kerry has lost a lucrative deal as a magazine columnist and sacked her trusted agent Max Clifford after he expressed concern about her in a newspaper interview.
Even so, if Brian did ever try to get custody of Molly and Lilly-Sue, legal expert Denise Lester tells Now that he wouldn't necessarily be successful.
‘Despite Kerry’s apparent problems, the courts wouldn’t want to upset the kids’ routine. The decision over custody would be based on the children’s welfare and uprooting them could upset them further emotionally.’
