Simon Cowell secretly coaches girls on X Factor

Simon Cowell is impressed with the women on The X Factor

Simon Cowell has been giving advice the girls on The X Factor advice – despite mentoring the boys.

The judge, 49, is convinced the under-25 females are the real stars of the show and has been coaching them behind the scenes.

‘Of course Simon wants to win with one of his boys, but at the end of the day he wants the show to be a winner,’ a source tell The Daily Star.

‘And that means crowning the most talented star.

‘He’s made no bones about who he thinks are the strongest singers this year – the girls.’

‘All the girls are amazing and incredibly strong,’ Simon admits.

The girls – Diana Vickers, 17, Alexandra Burke, 19 and Laura White, 21 – are mentored by Cheryl Cole, 25.

Simon lost Scott Bruton, 19, on last Saturday's show.
